Edith and Annette Lakes

We can't tell now if it is overcast or just smoky.  It smells slightly smoky but it isn't so bad it bothers my lungs.  We drove mid morning to the north end boat launch on Lake Edith.  Everyone has been telling us that we should paddle this lake.  Although not as pretty in color as Lac Beauvert, it was flat calm and the reflections in the water were wonderful.  The lake is quite shallow all around with a few deeper spots on the east side.

There are private homes and cottages most of the way around with beaches on the south side  We followed the shoreline for the most part and got out at the beach and walked a path to look out over Lake Annette.  There were a lot more cars parked for this lake.  When we got back to the beach, I took a quick, refreshing swim and we slowly paddled back to where we started just enjoying the peace and beauty of the lake.

The Water is So Clear You Can See the Minnows and Their Shadows

Nice Houses Around Lake Edith

We drove from Lake Edith to Lake Annette and put in at the west end of the beach.  It was more crowded and noisy from people playing in the water but once around the corner a bit we were back in solitude.  Somewhere on the west or southwest side, we found a bench near the water to sit and eat our lunch.  There is a paved disabled accessible trail that goes all the way around the lake.  From where we were sitting, we could see a loon that kept diving and coming up in front of us.  They are my favorite bird and remind me of mom every time I see one.

Except for the Beach Lake Annette is Undeveloped

Lunch
It was 93 degrees when we got back to the motorhome, another scorcher.  Thankfully, being on the water is much cooler and the air conditioner was cranking when we go back.  Ted barbecued at the picnic table across the way and I worked on catching up the laundry.  Only one more day before we move on.  We had quite a lightening storm in the evening.  This is what the sky looked like.
