Around the Campground

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

We went over to the lodge again to work on our blog this morning. We worked until after noon and still didn't finish again. I am getting so frustrated with not having an internet signal and the one we are using is so painfully slow. Even though we are in such a beautiful spot, I was ready to pack up and go.

It was a really windy day and once we ate lunch, we walked down to the shore of Jackson Lake with our chairs and books and sat and watched the waves and the anchored boats rocking high. Because of my frustration, I didn't even take my camera as I didn't want to have to deal with adding them to the blog. I'm sorry now that I didn't as it was a beautiful day with the magnificent mountains rising across the lake.

We sat and read for quite awhile until my iPad overheated and stopped. I walked along the rocky shore around a couple of points and back again. When I returned to where Ted was sitting, some loud people had set up nearby making it hard to concentrate on my book. We walked back up to our campsite and sat in the sun reading some more until it was time for dinner. We watched a movie and I worked on my sewing project before turning in.

We have been eyeing a site with a view of the lake that was also large enough to accommodate our rig. Ted got up early, put our name on the post and paid for a couple of days as we knew the people in the site were leaving today. After I got up, we closed up the motorhome and Ted went to dump the tanks and fill up with fresh water while I sat in the car in our new site. What a view!!

In the afternoon, Ted went in to Jackson for groceries while I sat and looked out at the beautiful scenery while working on my project. The lake was calm and the reflections of the mountains were spectacular. Although sunny, the temperature was just cool enough to have all the windows open and it was lovely. It is nice to just sit still for awhile and when Ted wanted to go out moose hunting, I was content to sit and sew.

Sunset From Our Campsite

Ted went back to String Lake where we had seen moose tracks in the lake the other day. He put his kayak in and paddled around the pond and up the narrow area that leads to Leigh Lake. He didn't see any moose but did see five elk, two that were bugling. That is such an incredible sight and sound.

Much to our surprise, we woke up with our internet working this morning. We are just out in the open enough that we are in line with a cell tower on Signal Mountain. It will be so great to be caught up with our blog and we will probably stay here now until our two weeks in this campground are done.

Since we don't need a shoehorn to get into this new site, we decided today would be a good day to catch up on laundry.  Ted also cut my hair and went kayaking in the afternoon back at String Lake.
