Winnebago Factory Campsite, Forest City, Iowa

Friday

It was 35 degrees when Ted went outside this morning.  It didn't feel that much warmer inside although it was probably in the sixties.  Ted went over to talk to customer service to see if we could get our coach fixed today.  I showered, made the bed, etc.  He came back and said that they wouldn't have the paperwork done by noon at the earliest so here we sit.

Sunday

I rode my bike over to the city park and played disc golf.  It was a bit windy, but sunny and good to get out.  There was a family of Canada Geese with 5 babies in the pond along the 8th & 9th hole.

Sheila stayed home and made a dress.

Monday

Winnebago Customer Service took our coach in and fixed 5 items while we sat in their waiting room with about twenty other people.  Sheila finished knitting the second sleeve of her sweater while listening to The Poisonwood Bible.  Ted read and wandered around when it wasn't raining too hard.  We had lunch at Sally's complete with homemade pie.  We are waiting on a new cabinet door for the washer/dryer to be built plus a new wiring lead for the burner igniter on the stove so we have another day of waiting.

Tuesday

We woke up to a sunny day with much warmer temperatures.  We rode our bikes up through the WIT National Headquarters to get to the bike path.  There are hookups (electric only) for at least a thousand RVs in the fields.  This is where they hold a week long national rally for Winnebago and Itasca owners.  We turned right onto the bike path passing dozens of portable toilets and huge tents where they were preparing for a big concert they are having this weekend.  The path meanders beside fields and the smell of manure and newly mown grass was heavy in the air.  The bike path ends at the Winnebago River and across the road from their small airport where we watched a helicopter landing.  We rode back the other way passing the golf course on the other side of the river and the disc golf course on our side.  There were all kinds of Canada Geese with their chicks in the park and we stopped to watch one mama and papa with their seven chicks for quite awhile.  Once we reached the end of the park, we crossed the river to continue on the bike route.  We discovered that there was no bike lane and the trail did not continue further on so we returned to our motorhome the way we had come.
