I spent the morning catching up on my blog while Ted put new mud flaps on the motorhome. Peaches was golfing and Harold was running errands and taking a break from us, I think. In the afternoon I drove into Bozeman to do a little shopping. When I got back, it was really hot and the rest of the crew had decided to drive up into the mountains south of town where it would be cooler. We grabbed snacks and adult beverages and off we went.
It was a pretty ride up into the mountains with thick forests of mostly evergreens lining the road. We followed Hyalite Creek, a narrow fast running little creek up the valley until we arrived at Hyalite Reservoir. We got out near the boat ramp to look around. There were people in canoes and on paddle boards enjoying the water as well as a few people in swimming.

We continued across the dam and up the back side of the reservoir on a dirt road until we found a place with a picnic table in the shade. We walked down to the shore where the water level was quite low and the smell reminded me of mud season in spring in Maine. We returned to the picnic table, got out our snack and drinks and had a pleasant hour or more of great conversation with wonderful people.

Lots of Trees Up This High |
Returning, we stopped briefly at one of the campgrounds on the back side of the reservoir. With no services and on a dirt road, we decided it probably wasn't for us. We seem to be getting pickier with our choice of campsites. When we got back to the house, we sat out on the deck where it had cooled off some and chatted for awhile before having a piece of Harold's Key Lime Pie. Yummm!!
